My only point was... there is a reason they encourage $100 minimum for a one time contribution. They could have simply published the email id and opened the doors to $5/ $10 contributors... i.e. the folks who say they would happily contribute this small amount if they had that option.

My wife got her name changed on the passport last week from the DC embassy. Her original Indian passport had only her first name and her last name was blank. Her US documents (Visa, SSN, Drivers License, etc) had her name as <first_name> FNU (Family Name Unknown). For a passport name change, the Indian Embassy requires you to:
1. Create an Affidivate in India saying that the name needs to be changed from <first_name> <blank> to <first_name> <last_name>.
2. Publish the name change in a national newspaper.
3. Publish the name change in a local US newspaper.
Along with the name change application, you have to submit the original affidivate, the paper clipings of the Indian newspaper and the local US newspaper.
Alternatively, if you have a marriage certificate and the marriage certificate lists your name as <first_name> <last_name> rather than <first_name> <blank> (as on your passport), you do not need the affidivate and a copy of the marriage certificate is sufficient.
The renew/change-passport-by-mail service that the indian embassy provides will take 10-12 business days (excluding Indian public holidays :) ). If you go in person to the consulate/embassy you can get your passport back within 3-5 days.

please refer the dates before posting such useless information. very ashamed to see some donors do this kind of mistake. unnecessarily misguiding the people. for a moment i lost hope. if this time, the uscis (after all the preadjudication numbers and all) makes this kind of stupid mistake then the USCIS should be ashamed of its existence and DHS should shove its head in some uselss thing.

Does this mean that the CIS is not going to approve any China or India E2 cases? Of course they will? They are a big agency and they are always adjudicating some cases. There is a difference, however, between adjudicating some cases and adjudicating a large number of cases. If they were adjudicating more than a few cases, or even likely to adjudicate more than a few cases, the VO would not have advanced cutoff dates. Doing so would have been positively harmful. The fact that VO did advance priority dates is the best evidence that the CIS is not processing enough cases to exhaust the quota.
The best evidence of this will be the establishment of the cutoff dates for the October Visa Bulletin. If the cutoff dates remain where they are, then that will be evidence that there are plenty of E2 numbers available for China and India. This is happening due to bad US immigration policies which of course largely reflects the conflict between american working class/employees and the business owners/employers.
Neither do the senators pass tough bills which can block out illegal immigrants not do they give the existing ones amnesty.
The illegals are stuck in some sort of limbo and it creates some human rights violations such as this one.
With legals, they issue green cards but not in sufficient numbers to satisfy the overall demand because of a popular american notion that jobs are going away to foreign workers.
I think if these lawmakers had done a good job of anticipating demand properly and regulating immigration, it would have been less chaotic.

If we can even collectively demand official data, which I think we are entitled to, it will help IV community in estimating the wait times for individual cases. It may also help USCIS in correcting their projections and forseeing the demand.

What US will do is also non-deterministic. To gauge it, you can only try to understand the sentiments currently running in politics. Anyway, if you look at the issue I am bringing up, it has the potential to grant everyone their freedom. I think this is the best idea that I have seen on the forum so far. Out of all of them so far....rallies, flowers, pizzas . Really speaking, if this action is indorsed by IV, this would be great. I think this is doable and does not require any change in existing rules about visas. I am all for it and many thanks for the suggestion.

I was asking a question as to what should be done to people who already got their GC thru Labor Sub, since someone said that all the subs of 2007 should get the I-140 filing date as the priority date. I care only about the present and future. This is what I meant when I asked the question.

Last year the H1B US MS cap wasn't over until the mid week of April and I think this year it's not going to be the same as there were a lot of missed MS applicants(I am one of them) but I don't think that the MS quota cap has no reached yet.
