I quite do not get what you are asking. You want to know if buying a call on an ETF that has had a drawdown with an expiration of less than 15 days will be profitable?
There are various option strategies and I usually trade spreads as the most basic strategy. I rarely if ever buy just calls that too with such low theta (<15 days). I usually trade 4 legged spreads like the butterfly, iron condor or at least bull/bear calls/puts.
Most of the time I am long vol (vega) with a strip strap or straddle. Sometimes I am short vega but hedge it with an exotic like a digital, or binary on the vix. I always go for optimal delta hedge and often construct synthetics. Never plain vanilla calls and puts unless I am hedging something else in a different universe with an option.
If you can explain better what your strategy is I can make comments. If possible clearly state the greeks on the strategy so I can visualize it.

EB3 I is bad and will get worse. EB 3 ROW will also get screwed big time because of the 300k namecheck victims who are now eligible for visas. Trickle down will also be impacted because of that. USCIS uses short sighted methods to clear their hurdles, they dont realize that there is person behind each visa number. The only thing certain for EB 3 is that in OCT EB 3 will revert back to the June 08 dates.
The sad fact is that most of us were screwed because the lawyers suggested to our companies that EB3 is easier to process than EB2.

My H1b (Revalidation for 7th yr) was on Dec 13th 1:45PM...Still hasnt receive my passport...Called the consulate ...they mentioned PIMS check is needed in order to stamp the passport...My travel date is Jan 9th..and I am also getting anxious...When asked about how long I will have to wait..they said to call back on Jan 5th (!!!????)...
Consulate apparently was on vacation from Dec 21st thru 26th..in US also until 2nd is pretty much 'holiday season' (lot of folks on vacation) (I hear this PIMS check is done by some system in Okalahoma)..

"Due to the implementation of new system requirements for the processing of petition based non-immigrant visas, the dispatch of passports with these types of visas from our office may be delayed by several days beyond regular processing times. Please wait at least seven working days after your date of interview before contacting our office regarding your passport."
Anyway I cancelled my wife's flight tickets, and won't book until they handover the passport to VFS. I agree with jitnair, this delay is affecting all our travel and personal plans in very BAD way.

An important bill was introduced in the house today that forces the FBI to end all namecheck backlogs. This is a very short bill and it has just one provision - to end namecheck backlogs. This is exacly the kind of bill we were looking for.
This is different from the bill that was passed in Senate recently.
The important thing for all of us:
WRITE TO YOUR REPRESENTATIVE AND ASK HIM/HER TO SUPPORT THIS BILL.
Unless you write, this bill is not going to pass - please do so immediately.

(2) How the FBI will improve communications with USCIS to ensure the maximum efficiency in processing name check requests from that agency.
(3) Security upgrades in transferring information between the FBI and USCIS to ensure the privacy of any individual receiving a name check.
(4) Long-term fixes that will prevent any future backlog, including a risk management analysis of changes that can be made to streamline the process and policies for obtaining FBI name checks in connection with applications and petitions for immigration benefits.
(5) An estimate of the funding required to complete the operation by the required date along with an estimate of any possible fee increases.
(6) A study regarding the best practices in assessing the level of risk presented by applicants. The study will determine whether the current risk assessment process should be modified.
(7) A report of the number of applications and petitions that remain pending at USCIS more than 6 months after the name check results have been returned from the FBI to USCIS.
(c) Effect of Backlog On and After 18 Months of the Date of Enactment of This Act- Beginning 18 months after the date of the enactment of this Act, the National Name Check Program is not authorized to have any file in backlog status. Yes. I have sent money to IDBI through SBI. You have to give it a week. And I got better rate than promised because the day they credited to the IDBI account the exchage rate was better than the day I sent it. So I guess the reverse is possible too.

Ok Logiclife, i did not intend to start a war or anything of the sort. I was just giving suggestions in light of the fact that inspite of IV working VERY hard, nothing is happening on the GC front. That is the ONLY reason I put up this post.
One more thing. You mentioned that a lot of people are not contributing, maybe the reason is that not everyone wants a GC that desperately. Some people are fine with working here temporarily and then going back after making some money. Besides some members who have contributed in the past may be wondering if it even makes sense to contribute again, being that there has been no real progress on the GC front since Dec 2005 (the birth of IV). Now do not get me wrong I KNOW how hard the IV team has worked and how many time we came SO SO SO close to getting our dreams realized in the Senate only to be crushed in the house again.
My point was, maybe it is time to face the facts. The government has changed but the basic attitude towards the "immigrant" is the same. This is because the average American, views immigrants as a threat. Now we can argue all we want on that statement, but in our hearts we know that the "AVERAGE American" would rather Not have immigrants come to the US (legal or illegal). In light of these events does it not make sense to ask for simpler goals? Goals like 485 filing or H4 Eads etc. Sure it makes us look weak in front of the anti-immigrants, but then are we here to solve our problems or to prove the anti-immigrants wrong?
Lastly this was NOT a threat nor was it intended to be a Threat that "take my advice or i will leave". Just a simple suggestion in light of things to come.

If he is calling ICE...only the employees are going to get affected. As the employer is already on GC or USC, he will be slapped with fine. Nothing else. So the best option is DOL and not the ICE.

Finally I am a US citizen after being 10+ years in this country. This is one of my biggest fulfillments and it means everything to me. US is just not home anymore for me, it is my country.

Lou Dobbs was in Orange County this weekend as a Keynote speaker at the The World Affairs Council of Orange County. He launched into his usual vitriolic diatribe, there were many business leaders at the forum and he ended up polarizing the crowd. Some felt that he is all talk with no practical real life experience managing companies, his ideas are over the top and cannot be implemented. He never ran or lead a fortune 500 company or held a major political office, yet he critiqued the very organizations who sponsored tables for this dinner. A few did get carried away by his speech, i have to say that the crowd at the back was cheering wildly for him while the executives in the front were subduded. BTW this person with socialist leanings has hefty appearance fees.
We would be better off not wasting our time on him or rebutting his indirect accusations, he is playing to his crowd. We should play to ours.

First they will process the applications which are cleared FP based on PD and receipt date. Always risk is there when filing without marriage. You are safe till USCIS starts process your application. When they take your application for processing then you cannot add your spouse. Also if CIR decides to process backlogs faster then also you will be in problem. Best option is if your marriage is already fixed do it within 3 months and file GC before PD is backdated. You need not file July first. You can wait till Jul15 to see next VB and decide.

Company A applied for my labor and I140(approved and Active currently) in 2005. Moved to company C in April 2007(H1 transfer), applied for I485 using Company A's EVL in July 2007. I got a 485 RFE now for EVL. Can I now say that I have used AC 21 by sending relevant documents or should I send EVL from Company A?
Forum Gurus - I got a denial letter on my 485. I am a July 2007 filer and applied for AOS in July 2007. My 140 was revoked by ex employer in August 2008 and immediately I got a NOID from USCIS and responded to it in a timely manner and my case processing resumed.
But now, I got a denial stating that my 140 has been revoked in August 2008 and thats why my 485 is denied. My Attorney is filing for MTR and says it is a mistake on their side and will be resolved through MTR.
It just baffles me that the person who sent the denial letter never looked into the system to see my case trail and blindly issued the denial notice. My Attorney says, it is very much possible that they do not look at RFEs or responses - they just issue denials when they browse through the 140s.
