H1-B has the following advantages under certain conditions.
1) If you are not yet married, you dump H1 and you are dumping the ability to bring your future wife to US immediately after marriage.
2) Some states give driving licenses that is valid until the EAD expiry or H1-B I-94 expiry. With H1-B, your hassle of DL renewal is reduced to one third of EAD based.
Its preposterous that USCIS does not allow LEGAL prospective permanent immigrants using EAD to bring their spouses!!

not all HR depts are helpful or even knowledgeable about the immigration process.

i myself was quite clueless about the immigration process when i started out and got stuck in EB3 unnecessarily. Even though my company is one of the best in the industry they had never done H1 or GC before i came along and were quite clueless about it.
This forum is meant for asking immigration questions...lets be helpful rather than speculate on the person's circumstances or acumen.

I sent #7001 form in second week of October , i emailed CIS Ombudsman3-4 days back . I received this email today....

I totally agree with pcs and IamWithImmiVoice. Sounds like a deluge of letters to everyone that matters is one of the better ways to move ahead. Shall do that today itself. Would be great if a good number of us could do the same. As IamWithImmiVoice said very correctly, "Lets be all a part of the core team and not get an opportunity to say that the core team is not doing enough "

I wrote letters to Charles Oppenheim who release the VISA Bulletin about not using the VISA Spill Over.. I think this is the best option today to make a lot of noise by writing letters and there is a good chance that he will take notice an d release the spill over.... I urge all to write 2 - 4 letters to him ASAP so that we can see some action before next bulletin...

Hi, I applied my I-485 and I 140 in June 22nd, I did not receive my receipt number yet, but I have a question, that my H-1 is expiring in October, Do I have to apply extention or should I wait for receipt number. Is that possible that I can apply the extention by my own if yes what is the proceedure for that

I was also in same situation. My stamping was done on 6th Dec and so far I did not get the passport. Vfs website says "Your passport has not been handed over to VFS. Kindly contact our regional call centres for further queries." I just sent an email to 'ChennaiNIV@state.gov' and 'infouschennai@vfshelpline.com' ..Waiting for their reply..

Sure if your ideas are good and conceivable Core team would defly work on implementing it. Dont be an outsider, try to get more involved. Again if you want to be part of the Core Let Aman & Co know, they should be able to delegate you some responsibilites.
Just like you, everybody is frustrated with the lack of progress. But we do understand our limitations, we can only educate the lawmakers with our issues, but we cant arm twist them to do something favorable. We have to keep our expectations right. As Logiclife told if big corporations like Microsoft cant achieve what they, want who are we? Does this mean we shld quit and resign our fate. Live another day, Fight another day till we achieve what we want.

Logiclife. I know why you are responding to these comments you all are frustrated with such comments. I know it is hard to not respond but please ignore these asinine comments. Please have some of these comments linked to the main page. But believe me "barking dogs seldom bite." Such people will ultimately sap your energy. But, just like how IV is asking people to contribute please also ask them to use their own judgment, they do this at their own risk. There are many people like us who have faith in your group although we know you cannot do miracles. Those who are celebrating .. consider this.. your employer decides for any reason to not continue filing I-140 or decides to let you go in 6th yr.. earlier you used to have at least possibility of sub labor.. now you are basically straight out of luck.. Also if microsoft needed some genius from China or India to join their team and the guy obviously deserves special consideration due to business need and/or his talent.. they are stuck..! It's not good.. yes desi folks were selling and buying these but remedy is worse than the defect.. they could have made changes to rules to make it stringent and almost impossible to get but no reason to place such arbitraty deadlines etc.. if H1B and GC is geared towards desi consulting.. it's should not and will not exist in the long run..
Indentured servitude and middle-men agent type business model is not ideal for anyone including US economy..

Put yourself in ROWs shoes and if you claim that you still believe in abolishing the quota, then I will agree you are a great person. I am not, because if I put myself in their shoes, there is no way I will support this action.
